The War Within expands our arsenal of talent options, which include our new talent hero talent trees, Slayer and Mountain Thane. Since Mountain Thane is quite lackluster and provides no significant benefits, we will focus our attention solely on the Slayer tree.
Hero Talents: Slayer
Starting off with our Slayer hero talents, let’s look at the core talents chosen that make up this build.
Our centerpiece talent focuses on Slayer’s Dominance, passively increasing our damage as we gain both Slayer’s Strike for added consistent pressure, and Marked for Execution for bonus Execute damage.
- Imminent Demise relies on how many Slayer’s Strike procs we throw out. Once we deal damage with three of them, we receive a Sudden Death proc, and after using it, we make Bladestorm hit an additional time, up to three extra strikes, without changing its duration.
- Cyclone Culling increases our single target and spread pressure from our Bladestorm.
- Unrelenting Onslaught reduces the cooldown of our Bladestorm when we consume Marked for Execution, and grants us 2 stacks of Overwhelmed as an added bonus to our damage.

Warrior Class Talents
In the Warrior Class talent tree, most of your talent choices will be mandatory when advancing onto each tier. Some of most noteworthy mandatory talents are:
- Shockwave, which when paired with Rumbling Earth, is your primary AoE stun, and is exceptional into melee cleave comps. Keep in mind that this ability is more of a micro CC due to its duration being nerfed from 3 seconds to 2.
- Spell Reflection becomes more potent against casters, as this reflects one magic spell and can change how the game plays out if you reflect some nasty direct damage or some magic projectiles.
- Thunderous Roar for that extra AoE bleed to add more to our sustained pressure.
There’s also the selection betweenPiercing Howl and Berserker Shout
- Berserker Shout allows us to break fears on our allies, and is highly suggested to pick up if you are facing a composition that has any kind of Fear related Crowd Control.
- Piercing Howl is our pick in cases where we gain no benefit out of Berserker Shout, giving us more uptime on our abilities as this applies a massive AoE snare effect to nearby targets.
As for our only flexible class talent, Rumbling Earth can be more swapped around with Shattering Throw, depending on your matchup and current composition played.
- Shattering Throw can be a potential option into Mages and Paladins, giving us a way to remove either Ice Block or Divine Shield.
Fury Spec Talents
For our spec talents, most of these will be mandatory as you advance onto each tier. Some of the most noteworthy talents are:
- Bladestorm, added as one of our primary burst cooldowns, which has many modifiers attached to from in our Slayer Hero tree for increased uptime and damage.
- Anger Management has incorporated its cooldown reduction on Bladestorm, reducing 1 second off after spending 20 Fury.
- Rampage, as the bread and butter of Fury Warrior, giving us a way to dump our Rage for the hardest hitting ability this spec has to offer. On top of that, this is how you apply Slaughterhouse, which is one of your default PvP talents, to reduce healing on the target, and to make use of Anger Management.
- Warpaint, which is reduced by half in PvP, but makes Enrage uptime more important in order to maximize your passive damage reduction.
- Frenzy grants you a stacking Haste buff after using Rampage on your target. However, you lose your Haste stacks when swapping over to someone else, making it ideal to train one target if you want to deliver the most throughput.
There are some nodes in our talent tree that can be interchangeable, the first being Powerful Enrage or Frenzied Enrage, as both talents are considered viable and should be swapped around depending on the composition at hand.
- Powerful Enrage increases our damage buff from Enrage, and makes it last a second longer. This is more preferred against melee cleaves where you will typically have high uptime on your preferred target.
- Frenzied Enrage is selected in cases where you are more likely to be kited, primarily into casters and ranged specs, in order to maintain higher uptime on our target from its movement speed increase.

Fury Warrior PvP Talents
In the current meta, your default Fury PvP talent loadout will typically include Slaughterhouse, Battlefield Commander, and Enduring Rage.
- Slaughterhouse is your Mortal Strike debuff that stacks up to 12 times for a 3% healing reduction per stack, and doesn’t refresh when we apply more stacks. With Rampage dealing 4 strikes to your selected target, you apply a 12% healing reduction on each use, and since you can crank this up to 36%, expect this to be the strongest healing reduction in the game if quickly stacked, aside from Sharpen Blade in your PvP talents for Arms.
- Battlefield Commander is just a passively strong option, as this makes all of our shouts way better than before. The most notable effects are Rallying Cry now breaking all root effects after used, and the cooldown reduction on Intimidating Shout, giving you another win condition as this makes your fear cooldown not line up with the enemy healer’s trinket.
- Enduring Rage is great if you’re constantly getting kited, as it provides you with free Enrage procs when affected by a snare or root effect, assisting you with your Enrage uptime. You also have a chance to receive Recklessness at a short duration after coming out of Crowd Control, making it easy to efficiently throw out Slaughterhouse stacks once you connect to your preferred target.
Finally, you can swap to/from Enduring Rage, or Battlefield Commander if the enemy team doesn’t have any fear-like Crowd Control, depending on the matchup and which talents are required.
- Battle Trance for some passive regeneration on your Rage and Health after using Raging Blow twice on your primary target, and is most favorable against Shadow Priest comps as you’ll have the most uptime on this spec.
- Disarm is only valuable into a select group of classes; Rogues, Warriors, and Hunters. These are best used on their primary offensive cooldowns to prevent the enemy team from snowballing massive pressure.
